Speak Success - Power to the People Skills Day
with Ilene Bergelson
Wednesday, March 17th 9:00am - 5:00pm
New York Marriott Marquis Hotel @1535 Broadway & 45th St.
What is it about our ability to relate to one another that can make or break an exceptional fitness professional? More importantly, where do we train for that part of our job? This unique event is your opportunity to create excellence in relating to others with confidence, authority and authenticity. Whether we are practitioners, instructors or managers, our job is to lead. Spend the day exploring invaluable and rarely discussed aspects of our work and practice communicating as a Leader. Ilene draws upon her extensive experience as a trainer, fitness instructor, international presenter and speaking coach and has helped countless professionals communicate for success.
Part 1: Practitioner (9 - 12:30 PM)
Dialoguing to Deepen the Mind Body Spirit Connection
Sometimes awareness doesn't come easily. The blank look and frustration we sometimes see in our clients when our instructions just aren't hitting home can be heartbreaking. How can we help those we teach to get more "in touch" with their bodies?
Kinesthetic awareness is a key player in the communication between a person's mind and body and the unity of the whole self. In this interactive seminar, we'll hone specific techniques to focus our clients' attention within, enhance their connection, intuition and ability to integrate correction. Guiding inner discovery and the resulting awareness can accelerate that transformational aha moment! Highly recommended for all who teach movement.
Injury-InJourney: Communicating Recovery
This session focuses on the parts of post-rehab that no one talks about. Ilene shares her experience in recovery fitness as a practitioner, a member of two national committees on injury and workplace safety and as a surgical patient to offer an insider's view on the inner journey of recovery. We'll explore:
1. The unintentional ways in which we as practitioners can undermine the healing process
2. Where perceptions originate from and examine the progression from perception to behavioral pattern
3. The signs of a disempowering relationship between mind and body
4. Easy ways we can help our patients and clients make peace...and progress
A MUST ATTEND for anyone involved with post-rehabilitation!

Part 2: Leader (1 -5PM )
SpeakSuccess: The Language of Leaders
There is a real demand for leaders in fitness management today. The missing link is in the ability to communicate. It is the difference between managing by issuing demands with mediocre results and empowering your team work together, take action and initiative. As leaders, our role is one of an entrepreneur who inspires and instills confidence. This interactive lecture/workshop will teach you how to use the 3 Pillars of Communication and guide your team to represent the best!
Tough Talk Made Easy: Communication Clinic for Leaders
It's easy to give feedback when the news is good. The challenges faced when communicating the need for change is a major source of stress for many of us in leadership positions. Whether it's the pressure of knowing you have to let someone go, terminate employment or discipline your team, it can be a better experience! Practice on the spot and leave with a newfound approach, skill and confidence. Learn how to let go of the stress and change your approach to make those dreaded Monday morning conversations a win-win.
This is a rare opportunity to safely practice the challenging conversations you want to turnaround for yourself. Do not miss!
SpeakSuccess: The Art & Skill of Reaching an Audience
A veteran performer with a career spanning Broadway, film and television, Ilene will draw upon years of experience in front of audiences of every size and share the essential elements of opening up to an audience, forging a strong connection, and coming across with confidence. Through exercises and Ilene's guidance, participants will explore internal sources of resistance that impede speakers' success. This is a skill-building session; participants will learn and improve their speaking skills on the spot. No more panic; lead the room with passion instead!

BodyART™ Training
with Robert Steinbacher
Wednesday, March 17th & Thursday, March 18th 9:00am – 5:00pm
New York Marriott Marquis Hotel @1535 Broadway & 45th St.
In BodyART™ Training, the human being as a functional unit has top priority. BodyART™ combines training positions and classical breathing techniques into a synergy of physical training and mental relaxation. The ultimate aim of BodyART™ training is to ensure the correct function of the entire human body through functional strength and stabilization training of the human motion system. In contrast to classical power training for the singular muscle, the human body as whole has priority. All exercises and positions train various muscles of the body at once. Many positions in BodyART™ call for an accelerated balance technique, so attention is directed to the center of the body. The benefit is that the awareness of the trainee concentrates on his/her own body and is not distracted by the surroundings. As a result, oxygen supply to the brain and muscles is increased which allows the body to relax while training. This intensive two-day training will include theory, practice, technique, alignment, BodyART™ philosophy, master classes and intensive training and education to give you a deeper understanding, knowledge and practice. A must for anyone who wants to further his/her physical training and learn new techniques and methodologies for greater overall results in strength, flexibility, balance, control, and mindfulness.
