Breaking New Ground By Patricia Moreno
"If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space. says Reverend Michael Beckwith. After spending time at the Agape Spiritual Center in Los Angeles, I was inspired.
So often we have a dream or a desire to accomplish something, to do something, or to create something, but we often stop before we start because we are paralyzed by the fear of failure or fear of discomfort. Instead of facing that fear, or going through the discomfort, we give up on our dream.
He goes on to explain that Permanent happiness is guaranteed when you lose yourself to something larger, and at that moment, you are involved with the evolution of your soul and you are becoming more not less than yourself.
We are encoded for success and within every desire is the seed of its fulfillment. Just like within an apple, its seed has all it needs to become a great tree and bear fruit. Just as all its needs are provided by nature, we are also provided for when we devote ourselves beyond just wanting to feel comfortable, or avoiding pain, disappointment and failure. When we are devoted to the growth and the development of our soul, we will experience the happiness that we are longing for.
When the seed is planted, it will grow as long as the environment is right. When we live on the edge, we choose love over fear, and we create the right environment within ourselves to grow, develop, and unfold to fulfill our highest potential. When we do this, we break new ground just like the seed breaks through the ground once it has taken root.
I recently broke my own new ground by introducing intenSati to hundreds of people at the different Equinox locations across Southern California. I also trained nine new intenSati leaders who inspired me and made it through an extremely challenging week, as well as our first West Coast Warrior Challenge.
This month, you have the opportunity to take a look at where you can break some new ground and grow and develop yourself. Ask yourself what it is you really want to be doing. What is in the way of you doing it? Are you willing to be the person you have to be to create the right environment for your growth and development? Can you choose love over fear? Remember, no one is born a warrior just like no one is born an average man. We make ourselves that way by the accumulation of steps we take towards one or the other. Will you be breaking new ground this month?

OBOW Monthly Green Tip
Energy Independence Day is less than ten weeks away and theres much to do in a little amount of time. The clock starts now on Climate Countdown: Energy Independence Day =96 Do your part and pledge your support now.
Before the 111th Congress takes leave for the July 4th recess, we must win the Senate passage of climate change and energy legislation, or the opportunity to put a bill on the Presidents desk before midterm elections may be lost. Who knows how long it will take to get this close again.
But there is good news; we expect a landmark Senate climate and energy bill to be released. Please help us gear up for this final push for Senate action and add your name to our Climate Countdown Pledge.
Please pledge to help do your part during this critical moment. By adding your name, you are standing up to the oil lobbyists and ideologues, and demanding that the United States lead the way toward capping carbon and unleashing a clean energy future. Every signature counts.

Did you know?

Raw food diets are becoming increasing popular, and with good reason. Foods in their raw state are truly as nature designed and they are the most biocompatible with our bodies. In fact, it's interesting to know that a boiled potato has 420 more molecular compounds than a raw potato. These new compounds are created in the cooking process, but part of the problem is that our bodies aren't always able to process new compounds - even if someone created them in a kitchen and they taste good.
Our bodies have specific enzymes for digestion, and they work like a lock and key. But when we keep changing the locks, the keys don't always fit. The result is that cooked foods aren't always digested well and particles of them end up stored in our bodies as toxic sludge, instead of used for fuel with the remainder eliminated
Interestingly, studies have shown that cooked foods increase our white blood cell activity. This essentially means that our bodies see cooked foods as invaders, and work to defend against them. Raw foods don't have this effect.
Another reason raw foods diets are becoming popular is that raw foods contain enzymes whereas cooked and processed foods are devoid of enzymes, as heating destroys them. Enzymes are critical factors in the health equation; they're often called our life force. Enzymes are the catalysts for every function of the body, including blinking and breathing. When we run out of enzymes, we die.
Digestion requires enzymes and by eating raw foods, we're doing little to deplete our enzyme reserves. In contrast, cooked foods demand that the body give up some of its enzymes for digestion. In this manner, cooked foods literally speed our death and hasten all of the processes along the way, including aging and disease.
Unfortunately, most cultures and social circles aren't geared towards raw foods. Many don't understand the benefits of raw food diets, or understand that a diet geared around cooked foods causes problems. Many people also think raw foods are boring or difficult to prepare. In truth, they don't have to be either.
Fun Feature
With divorce rates today at 41% and obesity 67%, you have to wonder what can be done to change it. Listen up married couples! Use your spouse as an exercise buddy and the benefits will surprise you.
A growing body of research shows that regular exercise may improve sexual function for both men and women by improving physical and mental health. What does this mean?
Your spouse can be your best exercise buddy. In a study of 3,075 people, researchers looked at marital status and activity levels. Married couples were more likely to be active than non-married individuals. If one spouse was active, the other spouse was also more likely to be active. In highly active men, their spouse was 3 times more likely to be active than women of inactive husbands. Having someone to exercise with can greatly improve your odds of being active for a lifetime.
"Exercise has psychological benefits as well," says Bryant. "It reduces stress, improves self-esteem, elevates mode and increases confidence that can also contributed to a better sex life."
Physical improvements in muscle strength and tone, endurance, body composition, and blood circulation can all enhance sexual function, but be cautious not to over-train. Too much exercise can actually decrease testosterone levels and lead to a decrease in sexual desire.

Q: I am a self-employed trainer in New York and need Health Insurance. How do I get insurance and know which one is right for me? Are there any Health Insurance companies that will offer insurance to self employed individuals at a reasonable price?
A: Yes. There are several New York Health Insurance companies that participate in a NY State program that offers quality coverage at affordable rates. There are certain requirements and restrictions to qualify and the prices vary by zip code and plan type. The size of the network of doctors, the deductible and prescription coverage can affect the cost of each plan. You should consult with an insurance consultant to determine if you qualify and which company and plan is the most beneficial for your needs. They can help you find out if your doctors accept the plan that you may be interested in as well as the prescriptions that are covered. Please feel free to call me for a free consultation.

The Importance of Critical Thinking by: Carol Scott
"It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it" - Aristotle
"Scientists" have been quoted saying; "In order to make us more competitive in the global marketplace, we are going to have to invigorate the school curriculum and provide more opportunities for science and math and especially for creative thought in general."
In Malcolm Gladwell's book, Outliers: The Story of Success, he theorized that in order to master your craft, you need 10,000 hours of practice. We need more practice thinking!
An inventor was recently asked, "Why arent there more inventions in todays society compared to even 50 years ago?" He explained that in our present society, we honor and celebrate the mere existence of celebrity. The people we cover in the news headlines dont actually do anything; they are famous for fames sake. Instead, we must honor the creative thinker who steps out of the box and that will spur more creative thinkers to try and propel us forward with new, vital discoveries and inventions. America has become a stagnant nation that has stopped celebrating the outsider or creative-thinkers, leaving us to reward mundane and repetitious behavior. We are, in essence, stifling creativity and idea generation.
Well, not so at ECA! We are still bent on highlighting the odd and the different, the exceptional and the new. ECA genuinely searches for creative thinkers who have concepts that seem a little out there. Collectively, we support those people and what they want to share, and are trying to do our part to celebrate those creative minds that are not afraid to reach outside the norm to try something new. BRAVO! Read more in the upcoming ECA Spring Newsletter!
